Gerard Unger's successful newspaper fonts Capitolium News 2 in use in the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant.

De Volkskrant was established in 1921 and it is now one of the largest quality Dutch newspaper with a circulation of approximately 250,000 nationwide. In 2013 de Volkskrant was awarded the European Newspaper of the Year in the category of nationwide newspapers.

Since 2006 they have been primrily using the Capitolium 2 font family by Dr Gerard Unger in texts and headlines.

Capitolium was designed by Dr Gerard Unger in 1998 and since then it has been expanded to Capitolium 2, Capitolium News 2 and Capitolium Headlines News 2. The primary differences between Capitolium 2 and Capitolium News 2 is their x-height, serif sharpness, letter spacing, and available styles. Capitolium Headline 2 is the titling companion to this editorial type family, beautifully engineered for large sizes and compact setting.
