I’m not sorry

September 2017

‘I’m not sorry’ is the 2017/18 edition of the UTS Women’s Collective magazine based in Australia. The magazine,– an 80 page collection of written, visual and editorial work of around 50 contributors. The design team included Ella Barrowclough, Isabella Sanasi, and Leeanne Nguyen. One of the typefaces used throughout its pages is Eskapade by Alisa Nowak.

The magazine was conceived and designed to enforce the following manifesto:

1 This magazine is designed with the intention to be accessible to those who find other publications inaccessible. Each piece is set in 12 pt and at a lower contrast to allow the reading experience to be available to all.

2 Every font you see in this magazine was designed by a woman or non-binary person. We have used Rosart designed by Katharina Köhler, Wile Roman designed by Cynthia Hollandsworth and Eskapade Fraktur designed by Alisa Nowak. We do not want to elevate the talents of male designers.

3 You as the reader should feel involved and valued in the magazine. You are not just a reader but a contributor. Our cover is a collection of voices, both from us and you as the audience

4 Uses colours and imagery that aim to shrug off conventional and harmful stereotypes. Pink has not been denied, but it is used sparingly.

5 None of us should be sorry and we say this together
