CUSTOM TYPE
LAC custom typeface

LAC Sans was developed, in collaboration with design studio FM milano, for a pitch for the new identity program of the Center of Contemporary Art in Lugano, Italy. It is a vast project embracing many different fields, from music to theater to art. The new custom typeface was supposed to function as a unifying tool for the visual identity of the center and beyond.
The brief for the typeface was to combine swiss typographic tradition with the specifically natural environment of Lugano and its organic shapes. The result is a rather dark display font, quite stiff in structure but with playful details, such as the curved outstrokes and soft stem terminals.

EDUCATION
Workshop in São Paulo

José Scaglione was invited to lead a workshop in the 2010 edition of TiposLatinos. The workshop, specifically designed upon request of the organizers, focused on designing lettering for logotypes and selecting typefaces that are appropiate for becoming part of a corporate identity communication program. Participants worked on projects of their choice, and learned how to approach and solve a series of problems regarding lettering for branding, such as: Outline quality and point placement, letterforms aesthetic coherence, reproduction consistency, space and counterspace balance and more...

TYPE IN USE
Ronnia in Correio Braziliense

The well-known Brazilian daily newspaper Correio Braziliense only recently launched a revamp. The new graphic and editorial project, presents innovative contents, with space for large photographs, suggesting a more dynamic and interactive exchange with the reader. The redesigned format splits the main section, city and sports into three papers in one.
They chose our successful type-family Ronnia as a multiple purpose typeface throughout the whole newspaper. Ronnia's application ranges from main headlines, which are set in all caps, to footnotes, small text and tables.

ARTICLES
Typolyrics

Typolyrics is a nicely designed book compiling typographic expressions of song lyrics from various music genres. According to the German design magazine Slanted, the initiator of Typolyrics, it is "an experiment in bringing together song texts and typography to create a visual". Bree and Adelle are represented in this book with Abba and De La Soul.
