Adelle has Respekt

Sometimes resistance becomes mainstream, as is the case with the Czech weekly journal Respekt. The journal was founded in 1990, soon after the fall of the Communist party, via a laborious process of copying and distributing the text of its writers. To this day it remains one of the most cited news sources in the Czech Republic.

What began as reporting on domestic and foreign political and economic issues, as well as on science and culture, has evolved over the decades into “a liberal magazine which stands up for freedom of thought and the need for continuous questioning of its outcomes.” The weekly editorial concentrates on investigative journalism and in-depth articles, seeing its effects in the removal of scandalised politicians or drawing attention to hidden activities. Respekt has expanded in recent years to cover pop culture, recent events, ecological activism, and alternative culture movements.
