Counting down to Poltik
March 2024
The only thing better than what’s expected is something wonderfully unexpected. Speaking of, Poltik is already outgrowing its oversized display shoes.

Last year Patrycja Walczak won our Gerard Unger Scholarship with her Poltik typeface. It began as a no-holds-barred display-only font (based on an old clock), and she has been diligently working on a fun idea for the text styles: a reverse contrast that’s as useful as it is interesting.
What’s a reverse contrast typeface? It’s when most of the character’s weight has settled in the top and bottom hemispheres. It adds an unique feel to the family that reads well but doesn’t sit within the boring norm.
It’s still not ready for prime time yet, but we wanted to show you its current state so you have something to anticipate. First, a reminder of the display version, and then a look at the text family. Enjoy!
